What begins – but how does it end?

image 26 - What begins - but how does it end?

Excerpts:

“What’s your name?” I ask after we’ve been driving for a few minutes.

“Fallon,” she whispers, almost inaudible.

“I already know that. What’s your last name?”

I need to make sure she’s not related to Victoria before I let this go any further.

“Brice,” she says hesitantly.

Brice… I tap my fingers against the steering wheel. I’ve never heard of anyone by that last name before, but I’ll still have someone look into her when we get to the safe house. I have to be sure. I know just the person to do that.

Although, I’m sure my brother will not be happy that I’m contacting him for a favor.

I think further on questions I should ask her like this is a fucking date, and I didn’t just pay one million dollars for her body.

“Where are you from, Fallon?”

“Sun Valley.” She doesn’t offer any more than the bare minimum.

“Have you always lived there?”

“Yes.” A second passes, and then she asks the question that dooms both of us. “What are you going to do to me?”

Gripping the steering wheel a little tighter, I grit my teeth and answer her truthfully.

“I don’t know yet.”

I just don’t fucking know…

Excerpt:

“If I don’t matter to you, then why did you kill that man the other night? Why didn’t you just let him go?” I fire back. What could possibly be his excuse?

Markus’s nostrils flare, and I swear he wants to murder me. The look in his eyes tells me he’s completely done with my shit. It’s a miracle I’ve made it as long as I have. I’d have run by now, but there’s something I need from him, and also, I don’t want to die.

“I killed him because, one, you’re mine. Two, I paid good money for you, and I don’t plan on wasting that money. Three, you’re fucking mine. He came here, showed up uninvited,  intending to get close to you. He’s lucky that death was the only thing he got.” The possessive tone of his voice frightens me.

He really does only see me as an object and not a breathing, living person.

Excerpt:

ly in the eyes and expecting to live.

Stalking toward me, he wraps a hand around my wrist and pulls me into his chest like a rag doll. “You think I’m stupid? You think I don’t know a liar when I see one?”

He doesn’t give me a chance to answer him before he twists me around, forcing my back against his chest. I’m facing the nameless man now, and I can feel the tears in my eyes threatening to break free and run down my cheeks.

Wrapping an arm around my middle to hold me in place, he slips his hand into my sweatpants, and I freeze. My entire body becomes an iceberg.

What is he going to do?

His thick fingers move down over my smooth skin, trailing lower and lower while my heart races faster and faster in my chest. When he makes contact with my mound, I almost scream. The only reason I don’t is that I’m sure that’s what he wants, to terrify me, to get a reaction out of me.

“You like this, don’t you? Seeing me so close to the edge. That’s why you won’t tell me? You want to see how close I’ll get before I completely lose it?”

My bottom lip trembles, and I’m about to tell him, no, that this is wrong, that he needs to stop and let this man go, but two fingers slide between my folds and find my clit. The world around me spins.

And it snows..

image 17 - And it snows..

Ah Montana – the mountains, the cows and cowboys that you need for them, and then there is the cold! Lots of cold.  Bozeman where our heroine moves to, is noted for being trendy – and snow can fall for 3/4 or more of the year! So coming from San Francisco was surely quite a shock to her. Clearly hadn’t invested in the correct undergarments – try Uniqlo in future… they even have self-heating jeans.

I liked the format of the book and the writing style was engaging and fun. Her ‘adventures’ with cows and cowpats and ‘wild’ creatures were amusing and I liked her friends and her boyfriends.

This was a lively book to read and enjoy in the less than freezing temperatures of Southern UK where you can giggle at our current 17 degree c in mid November and all the flowers blooming – and no need to put on woollies – wellies yes though as it has rained a lot! See La Sevillan rose and our LiquidAmbar in full glory in our garden late October 2020.

20201016 130626 576x1024 - And it snows..

Oh and do look up the blog from High Country News which gives 10 reasons not to move to Bozeman – funny. The author is debunking all the people who say move to Bozeman for the laid back life etc. A small paradise it is often said.

https://www.hcn.org/blogs/goat/top-10-reasons-not-to-move-to-bozeman

So number 1 reason is the Name – lame.. and number 2 is the weather… it has been known to snow heavily in June. That said, snow in the UK comes later – or earlier – in the year, depending on how you look at it, in the South rather than the North, and has frequently snowed on our son’s birthday late April – but only a sprinkling.

Not so young as their name.

This book is a series of three about the Young brothers who own restaurants across Arizona. Book One deals with marketing. I thought that the marketing ideas were rather old hat and as for lying on your CV that’s okay we all exaggerate and take a little bit of what our bosses do into our own tasks and responsibilities. The office was based on the West Coast laid back style with games and nap chairs type but still seemed rather more conventional than many I have read about. I did like the element of autism that was brought in very empathetically. I give this four stars

Book 2 of the Young brothers dealt with a lot of body enhancements. I found it very difficult to warm to the characters as they were so extreme in their views – there was the view of frugality as opposed to spending; the issues of biohacking; and it seemed to me that saving a million is not enough to retire on especially if it’s invested in the stock market  – as it would require interest and the stock market goes up and down loads.  And interest is often negative on savings. And then, using houses as retirement savings is also a dodgy area, in that you need a. the renters and b. what happens if the economy crashes. A lot of friends of mine ended up with negative equity with the last house price crash, and I understand that it is worse in the US. If the writer had made more of the true finances of retirement and savings at present, I would have given this book another .5 star. I give this three stars. Book 3 is not yet out.
