Can you tell your readers something about why you chose this particular topic to write about?

Right now, I am happily touring the blogosphere as part of the launch for HUNTRESS, book #7 in my Angelbound Offspring series. I got the idea for this novel after reading some omegaverse stuff. In the omegaverse world, there’s more structure about being a fated mate versus just—BLAM—I love you! So I found that intriguing. That said, the omegaverse is pretty explicit, so I needed to ditch the concept and rebuild it from scratch so it’s appropriate for a younger reader.

What appealed to you about writing HUNTRESS?

I’m a big fan of characters discovering their worlds alongside the reader. In HUNTRESS, our heroine has a memory block in terms of what it really means for her to be a glass dragon. We get to join her as she finds herself again… literally.

Why do you think it is different and your approach is unique
True story: I recently asked my readers this question so I find the right key words for my book descriptions. The biggest thing readers found different about my work is my unique approach to epic fantasy. I craft different worlds for each of my books. So if you want to lose yourself in another reality, then I’m your author!

How long do you think about a topic before deciding to write about it?
I map things out, come back, and tweak them again. Wash, rinse, repeat. From the start of the process, it’s probably at least three years. By the time I get down to intensively writing, it can be 6-8 weeks.

Do you have a set of notes or a note book where you write down topics that appeal before making a decision as to which topic this time?
I use Pinterest a ton. You can
check out my boards here.

How long does it take to research a topic before you write?
As a fantasy writer, I don’t research so much go through a process of trial and error. Example: in my book, HUNTRESS, I originally wanted the character of Gage to have his dead parents talking in his head. It made for a few funny scenes—and the idea certainly isn’t out there a ton—but in the end, it just didn’t work for the character. So I ripped it out and did something else. This goes on and on until at some point, I read the draft and say, that’s it!!!

Thanks for having me by as part of the launch tour for HUNTRESS!
