Nina made me cry. I cried for her addiction to alchol. I cried for the bad decisions the alcohol made her take. I cried for her 17 year old self who lived thorugh the lowest point of her life after life had seemed so good. Shappi telles the story of Nina with empathy and sympathy.you see her world as it exists for her, knowing that she is living in a very unsafe way, yet she doesn’t recognise it. She takes a very long time to realise that not everything that happened to her was her fault, but that her lifestyle led her into dangerous situations. This book should be read by all 16/17/18 year old girls. So many these have chosen binge drinking as a way of life and are headless fo the dangers of that lifestyle. The book is honest and it pulls no punches.
