As King of the Thrax, Lincoln leads the most powerful demon fighting force in the after-realms … yet he cherishes nothing more than his Angelbound love, Myla. All of which is why Lincoln loses his freaking mind when a demon horde targets his pregnant wife. So. Not. Happening. Sometimes, a warrior just needs to ignite his baculum sword and kick a ton of evil ass.

A continuation of the story of Mila and Lincoln and how their partnership develops.

The Viking Games – a small slice of the Viking world and gods had somehow found its way into a pocket which belonged only to itself, but that Lincoln’s father wanted to have access to for trade reasons. So he sent Lincoln out.

Lincoln found out that there was a trick being played in the arena….

In some ways this was an interesting difference in the story especially when you found out how the trick was being played, but it was a little too full of blood and gore for me. I like a good fight but this was a bit too much. And there wasn’t enough ‘Viking’ for me as they have such interesting gods if you poke into them.

I am beginning to feel ennui from the author. Here is a computer game but in book form. She has copied the concept and written it up rather than being entirely original.

BLOG – Angelbound BACULUM

By Christina Bauer

“Why I chose this particular topic to write about”

As part of the launch for my latest book, BACULUM, the lovely folks at The Bouncing Tigger Reads have asked that I share something about why I chose this particular topic to write about. In the case of BACULUM, I consider the story to focus on the ongoing adventures, love and growth that comes with being in a long-term relationship.

Bear with me. I swear, this will make sense.

For me, it all starts with the Asian story of Rama, which I first studied in college. In the West, most fables end with ‘they were married and lived happily ever after.’ Not the case here. The Ramayana basically begins with ‘Rama and Sita were married, and so started their adventure.’

When I first read this, I was stunned. It never occurred to me that marriage would be the beginning of an epic myth. Western fables focus on courting and falling in love… so what are we missing out on here?

That revelation started a lifelong obsession that basically says, hey, where the fuck are all the stories that start with two people getting together? Over the years, the result has been the many Lincoln-Myla books. In BACULUM, I try to explore what happens when you’re expecting a baby (or any big change, really). There’s a lot of not wanting to repeat mistakes. And since I’m writing this book, there’s also a villain who’s custom-built to push every worry-button in your brain!

If you’re following the Lincoln series, here are the other couple-topics I’ve tried to explore:

Book 1 – DUTY BOUND. This was an introduction to Lincoln
Book 2 – LINCOLN. This was the romance arc. My life would be a lot easier if I was happy just writing this arc over and over!

Book 3 – TRICKSTER. Lincoln learns how to balance being a badass guy with supporting his kick-ass wife.
Book 4 – BACULUM. What happens when your life gets turned upside down?

So there you have it: the story that launched a thousand ideas for Lincoln and Myla! I hope to see you at a future launch. You never know what our favorite couple will be doing!

Tricky Tricky

Trickster Book Cover Trickster
(Angelbound Lincoln, #3)
Christina Bauer
Genres: Fantasy, Paranormal, Young Adult
Published by: Monster House Books
Publication date: February 25th 2020

***A hilarious adventure after the events of Angelbound SCALA … and it’s all from Prince Lincoln’s point of view!!!***

With the drama of the Soul Towers and Lucifer’s Orb behind them, Myla and Lincoln look forward to sharing some quality time. Perhaps they’ll even do a ‘regular couple thingie’ like a dinner date. Or they could kill more demons together. Myla isn’t picky.

Then a trickster gets released inside Antrum’s secure borders. And by trickster, we’re talking a giant orange monkey with magical powers and a love of causing drama with uptight thrax.

Looks like date night is on hold.

So a Loki by any other name is a Trickster, but here, not necessarily by nature.

This story continues with Lincoln’s world view and adventures and says more about his soldier mentality and the way the medieval knight thought about the world and their role in it.

We replay his meetings with the Myla after she becomes the Scala and move on into their joint adventures before their marriage – which leads to a certain amount of sexual frustration – which may also lead to a certain amount of demonstration of virility in the fighting arena!

I like nearly all of the books in this series, but find these books about the early years less interesting, although I did like the Lion and his ‘pretend’ fight with Lincoln.

Nonetheless, even if Bauer does write the books out of chronological order, as they cover elements of the story we have not heard about before, they do link in. The writing style remains good and again a fun YA read.

Find the Prince

Lincoln Book Cover Lincoln
AngelBound
Christina Bauer
contemporary fiction, romance, fantasy, angels, demons
Monster House books
26 Feb 2019

When it comes to fighting demons, Prince Lincoln is the greatest warrior in the history of his people, the thrax. Now Lincoln faces his hardest fight yet...and it's not on a traditional battlefield. Lincoln is falling in love. And the girl is part demon. Between a fated dance at the Ryder mansion...a life-changing walk through a hedgerow maze...and a massive battle with none other than the King of Hell...Lincoln realizes that he wants to share his life with Myla Lewis, the part-demon girl who has captured his heart. However, an evil thrax noble--the powerful Earl of Acca--is prepared to do anything to stop Lincoln and Myla from having a future.

I am very fond of this version of world building and love the idea of demons getting loose and causing illnesses etc – but being invisible to the human eye. And that the Thrax and others like human ice-cream and films. The Ghouls are creepy and the monsters are very imaginative. Don’t read these books if you get nightmares as they will inhabit them!
I have now read all the books so far published in the series and found them enjoyable, but I thought that of all of them Armageddon was rather slow in tension building.
The story of Lincoln finally comes out now – his background and how he courted Myla from his perspective and then we learn about how Maxon got his night terrors in Armageddon.
Better to have read Armageddon before Maxon but this author does not produce books in chronological order so a bit tricky…
However, if you can manage to sort out the storyline in your own mind, then do read the books as they are published.
