Under Your Spell
Cajun Demons MC
military romance, romantic suspense
Love can be magical. And deadly. Chloe After my grand-mère was murdered, I returned to Bayou Noir to find the killer. And I had just one suspect, Xavier Richelieu. But I forgot just how superstitious the folks in my old hometown can be. A voodoo priestess, a supposed vampire, and a grumpy gator are on the loose. I don't believe in this crazy supernatural stuff, but I am worried about seeing my old crush again, Saint. And I should be. Somehow, he's even more gorgeous than I remember. I'm tempted to leave my good girl ways behind and take a long, hard ride with the biker. Saint I've got better things to do than follow Chloe around, but she seems bound and determined to get herself killed. Somebody needs to watch her back and it might as well be me. She's running hot and cold, but one way or the other, I'm gonna sweet talk her into my bed. I'm used to keeping my distance from women, but with Chloe, I can't get close enough. Under Your Spell is a fast-paced, action packed, MC romance with some paranormal elements. This full-length standalone novel contains a hot biker, explicit language, scorching sex scenes, and an HEA.

for light reading and quite a nice telling of this typical storyline.
Melanie Perkiss Witch Hunter
paranormal, fantasy, magic, adult
October 31st 2019
A thrilling introduction to the dark mystical world of Melanie ‘Breaker’ Perkiss, Buffalo NY’s most capable witch hunter and spell lifter.
In this debut instalment, a dark mage acting on behalf of a vengeful ex has magically removed the genitals of a man and vanished, leaving him wiped clean down there. And unfortunately for the victim, he is set to wed…now imagine saying ‘I do’ while in that deprived state.
No wonder when a shell-shocked and heartbroken Casey walks into Melanie’s office to report the incident, the witch hunter immediately goes on a chase, risking her own life as she encounters dark creatures and malevolent spirits in the city’s darkest corners.
The pressure is indeed on Mel: the wedding is fast approaching and leads remain few. Will she be able to corner the mage, recover the taken goods and save a doomed marriage, while bringing the conspirators to justice?
I failed to finish this book for a number of reasons.
I am going to list them below. I do realise that this is Kezzy’s first novel in a blog tour (see previous interview in November) and thus one that has gone out to a wide audience, but for me it lacked quite a few things.
the story was too long. it needed editing into a tighter storyline.
the way it was written I found strange – the grammar, the phrasing and the way the sentences often didn’t flow seamlessly into the next. The style was staccato.
example of above “The day outside looks a whole lot new”.
I found much of the content too ‘young’ – I know that Kezzy wanted to be different but the concept of a clawed hammer to claw out bad spells seemed to me to be something that my 10 year old grand-daughter would come up with. His potential audience is more sophisticated.
this jarred with the explicit sexual content!
the witch hunter seemed to lack much of the necessary skills for her work.
So the publisher’s blurb fails to live up to the potential and actual content. Sorry Kezzy!
A Slice of Christmas Magic
One More Chapter #2
by A. G. Mayes
Harper Impulse and Killer Reads
A magical Christmas mystery perfect for fans of Debbie Macomber! A recipe for festive disaster… With Aunt Erma back in charge of her magical pie shop Susanna Daniels thought life would return to normal. But there is no ‘normal’ in Hocus Hills and as the most magical time of year approaches Susie finds herself in a race to stop a magic revolution. Add in the unexpected arrival of the one that got away and a mysterious dog named Duncan, and it’s clear that this will be one Christmas that Susie will never forget!
Initially I found this book confusing. Have I read the first chapters before? Was it at the end of a previous book? Or did I read an early draft?
Or something else?
I thought that this story was not quite up to the standard
of book 1. Perhaps because the ‘strange’ in the story is now familiar. It
needed for me more than the same enemies.
I was very worried about the level of diabetes in this
community with the amount of cream pie they are eating. A very American dessert
and thing to do. Perhaps the author could let them eat something healthier
occasionally? A fruit flan would be an improvement.

Escape hell. Save the world. Simple, huh?My name's Jynx. This morning I was a princess of hell. Now I'm it's most wanted. After a coup in hell, Lucifer's niece, Jynx Morningstar, is on the run with the king of hell in her back pocket (in handy stone doll form) and a hellcat with delusions of grandeur. To save her uncle and by extension, hell and the world above, Jynx must evade the legions of hell, master her human magic and track down her father: a healer witch.Simple. Yeah, right....What she doesn't expect is to walk into the middle of a shapeshifter/vampire turf war, a sexy as sin alpha werewolf who claims she's his one true mate, or to actually care what happens to the residents of small town, Boring. But when Death comes a'knocking she must make a choice. Go big and reveal what she is, or go home and leave them to their fates... A demon would leave them in a heartbeat, but can Jynx rise above her demon blood and prove what a true princess of hell is made of?Please note: contains high amounts of snark, an adorable werewolf looking for true love, a demon princess trying to avoid 'feelings' and a viking-wearing hellcat.
Oh yes, another snarky writer… and yes echoes of Robyn Peterman and that shifter town of Asshat – yes , Mina, I did recognise these …
But I do like this Princess Jynx, and I find I do like Mina Carter – the first book of hers I’ve read.
The storyline is nice, but I would have preferred the book to have been longer and more complicated. Still can’t wait to find out what Uncle Lucy will do next.

A Vegan Vamp?!
I so much enjoyed this tale that I read the following 3
stories in the series plus the 2 novellas. Still not a 5 star rating but
enjoyable romps through just what happens when a vampire can’t stand the taste
of blood and cannot digest it either. So how does she take in nutrition?
Protein shakes with a mixture of vegetables etc to ensure she gets the
necessary minerals etc.
Each book leads onto the next with a cliff-hanger and with
the 2 short stories lying in the middle and intersecting – covering some of the
same time periods but other aspects.
They are cosy murder mysteries, with magic, witches,
political intrigues and lots of power plays. Living a long time gives vampires
lots of time to plot it seems…
