Are you Ready?

As always with Robyn Peterman the story telling style is funny, told from a sassy female’s point of view, wit on wheels with the words and sexy.

So here we have a werewolf working for the paranormal agency as an undercover agent and she is sent back to her childhood home. Of course, they think she is a failure – well she was one when she lived there – and they don’t see why she might have changed.

She has a brilliant gay Vampire as a friend who goes everywhere with her – for his entertainment – who proves to be rather more than he appears to be on the surface when push comes to shove.

Example of dialogue:

Heroine to her boss:

‘First of all, my ass is not hairy except on a full moon and you’re smoking crack if you think I’m going back to Georgia’.

‘Am I your boss?’

‘Is this a trick question?’

‘Fine. I’ll quit. I’ll open a bakery.’

‘Excellent, I’ll let you tell the Council …’

The Council consisted of supernaturals from all sorts of species … the Vampyres were loosey goosey, the witches were nuts and the freakin’ Fairies were downright pushovers…

The Dragons.. had their own little club and a psychotic desire to rule the world.

I love everything that Robyn writes and just wish I could write like her… I love the fact that the 95 pound grandmother can out fight the heroine and still thinks she is a little girl – except in werewolf terms she is at 28. And the best friend is very well described in his clothing and attitudes and the fact that he was very rich after all he was 300.

  2. Yes Vampires ARE ETs and YES, the Greek Gods were ETS and Vampires! Clearly written by a committed vegan/vegetarian some lovely food is recommended aand explained how it made you fitter and healthier. Only issue being the general llcack of protein included. Even Veggies need this… And the ETs are very environmentally conscious too.
And eggs are expensive, but if they are so expensive, why aren’t people keeping chickens like they did in the UK during WW”? they just need a small patch of soil to roam, table scraps, and some bought in feed for laying. Must be cheaper.

But don’t give them  avocado, potato plant leaves and rhubarb. And some people don’t recommend kitchen scraps at all –

She insists that Lucy, with her ghostly abilities and tentative immortality, can join her in the fight to help those in need.

About The Author:

Born in Southern California, B.C. Johnson has been writing since he realized it was one of the few socially acceptable ways to tell people a bunch of stuff you just made up off the top of your head. He attended Savanna High School in Anaheim, and an undisclosed amount of college before deciding that weird odd jobs were a far greater career path.

This lead him to such exciting professions as: aluminium recovery machinist, lighting designer, construction demo, sound mixer, receptionist, theater stage hand, wedding security, high school custodian, museum events manager, webmaster, IT guy, copywriter, and one memorable night as the bouncer at a nightclub. He is trying very hard to add “vampire hunter” and “spaceship captain” to that list.

He currently lives in Garden Grove with his supernal wife Gina, his half-corgi, half-muppet dog Luna, and his new half-greyhound, half-living-tornado-of-destruction Kaylee. He also spends time with his two brothers, his parents, and his close friends, whose primary pursuit are usually healthy debates about movie minutia. When he’s not working or writing, he’s been to known to pursue all conceivable geeky avenues of interest including but not limited to video games, the sort of TV shows/movies Benedict Cumberbatch might star in, graphic novels, podcasts, funny gifs, the whole thing.

He’s also been known to apply his special brand of hyperbole and mania to pop-culture humor essays for various websites that can be found on his homepage, bc-johnson.com. B.C. also has a high school noir short story called “The Lancer” available on Kindle

Deadgirl is his first novel.

How to bake a cake with magic

The most unusual fantasy story I’ve read for a very long time.

It is not a light read but it a well crafted and told story with a complex worlds’ creation myth explanation underlying it.

The story of Maire who arrives from unknown parts lacking memory but retaining a cake making magic in the most primitive of cooking facilities hooks the reader.
Who is she?
How did she come to be in this situation?
How did she arrive?
Who taught her to bake and to add magic through her thoughts into her creations?
How did she acquire the skills and knowledge to produce wedding cakes and biscotti for instance without recipes, and with primitive equipment lacking measuring scales, and all the other complicated cake making apparatus we have in our kitchens?

All these questions intrigue the reader and more. The reader is encouraged to continue to find out how Maire finds herself and finds her way home – the answers come slowly and in small pieces so you read on.

Texas as it never was

This series hooked me immediately. And so I purchased the whole set.

A Viking Vampire –My Dragon Masters – My Eternal Soldier – My Warrior Wolves

And books 5, 6, and 7 are still in writing – My Vampire Knight, My Guardian Gryphon, and My Phoenix Savior.

Yes, in the town of Sanctuary there are an awful lot of ‘fantastical’ creatures inhabiting it, and we haven’t included the Brownies, the Siren, the Chameleon (?Fox shifter?), Pixies and a Lamassu...a Sumerian deity - see picture...

Stitched Panorama

Stitched Panorama

So we have plenty of scope for yet more romances in the series!

Can’t wait!

My only issue with the four I have read is that at times there is a touch too much BDSM for me, but you are warned that these are books with very adult themes – yes, sometime the love matches end up as triangles – 2 males to a female and I’ll leave it your imagination as to how that goes down in the bedroom – and if your imagination isn’t good enough, then the books will tell you! Fairly explicitly...

The story-telling is excellent and you really get into the different tales and their trials and tribulations of the various characters before they reach some sort of completion.

Be aware that this a post-apocalyptic world  and there is much that is new – at least in the US – the books say that Europe remained very much the same – business as usual – but you need to read the books to find out why! No spoilers here...
