Dallas August runs a dangerous business—an organization of elite spies for hire.

The secrets trade.

Nothing is off limits, and no price is too high.

When asked to uncover what recluse Gwen Marsh knows about a Mafia kingpin’s death, Dallas poses as a bodyguard to get close to his target, but the stubborn Asian beauty wants nothing to do with him. As the FBI and the Mafia close in, danger drives them together, but can he protect Gwen, or will Dallas be the one risking everything to discover what she is really hiding?

Dallas August is about to find out how dangerous life can be as one of the Secret Brokers.

Once you are in, there is no turning back.

Can you tell your readers something about why you chose this particular topic to write about? What appealed to you about it? Why do you think it is different and your approach is unique?

The tale of the undercover spy has always intrigued me. The danger and surreal settings have drawn me as a reader since I was young. A big influence on my desire to write in this genre was Ian Fleming—yes, the creator of the James Bond Series. His take on the character, and his details into Bond’s psyche, riveted me to every page. If you haven’t read the books, I highly recommend that you do. Fleming presented an in-depth course on how to write a character—one to which readers are drawn. Yes, James Bond was sexy, dangerous, and intriguing as a character, but he also had a vulnerability not captured in the films. Many of the James Bond novels were about the evolution of the character. His mistakes, broken heart, and failures as a spy made him confoundingly appealing. When I set out to write The Secret Brokers Series, I wanted to recreate the same flawed character in Dallas August that Fleming had mastered. After all, it’s the humanity of a character that draws us in. Knowing someone can be as unsure gives us hope that we’re not as different as we feel.

What makes The Secret Brokers stand out from other thriller genres will be the characters. They will be human, weathered by their flaws, but also retain a humorous side that makes them unforgettable. The world in which they live will be unique. As spies for hire, Dallas and his specialists—that is the term for his spies—steal secrets and sometimes sell them to the highest bidder. Their assignments will not always be deadly, some will be comical, but the dark world where many of Dallas’s specialists work will provide countless tales of deceit, infidelity, theft, betrayal, and murder. Stories will take place in museums, governments, colleges, hospitals, labs, drug companies, businesses, homes, and will involve men, women, children, cheating husbands, desperate wives, business moguls, leaders, diplomats, dictators, nurses, doctors, and politicians. The plotlines won’t be fantastical but relatable. In the stories, many may see their experiences mirrored. Adventure, romance, intrigue, and humor will be the cornerstones of The Secret Brokers Series. I hope it will entertain readers for a long time to come.

No Prince Charming Book Cover No Prince Charming

Angel Payne, Victoria Blue
Fiction

March 6, 2018

Once upon a time, a girl attended a big party at the palace, met a prince, and they fell in love… My name is Claire Montgomery, and I’m no princess. I’m a fighter. I’ve worked hard to earn my place with one of the largest public relations companies in the country, and I’m on the verge of one of the most important victories of my career. We’ve been called to Stone Global Corporation to clean up the family’s filthiest laundry, and I’m on my game. I’m ready. But am I ready for Killian Stone? They say it’s never too late to live happily ever after… I’m Killian Stone. They call me the Enigma of the Magnificent Mile. Elite tycoons want into my bank account, and their wives and daughters want into my pants. They’ll do anything for a piece of the enigma—until a crack in our castle is too large to ignore. I’m thrilled. This scandalous fissure distracts everyone’s attention from the bigger secret I’m hiding. But when Claire Montgomery walks through my door, I’m captivated. For the first time in my life, I long to shed the enigma. To share…my secret.

This is a nicely written story about a 'prince'_ a rich entrepreneur - and a romance with a 'poor' girl.
Claire works for a very high powered PR firm which specialises in turning disasters into 'wins'
She is the most junior member of team and works mostly behind the scenes. Which suits her very well as she has a secret-one which, if made known, could end up with her in jail. And this secret is being held over her by the daughter of the firm's owner.,
Killian, the Stone family's 'prince also has a secret. One which is not just his but the stone family's too.

Let’s go Home

I’ll be Home for Christmas
Abbey Clancy
Romance, humour, contemporary, Christmas
Mills & Boon
(19 Sept. 2019)

‘Putting her inside knowledge of the showbiz industry to good use…Get cosy for this festive read’
OK! Magazine

‘entertaining read [that] lifts the lid on fame, glitz and glamour’ Daily Express

Even stars have Christmas dreams…

Popstar Jessika Malone can’t believe her luck! Not only has she signed a major record deal and is topping the charts with her latest single, she’s just been offered the chance of a lifetime: a tour with gorgeous megastar Cooper Black…

It’s everything she’s ever dreamed of – except that it means travelling thousands of miles from her boyfriend, Daniel, just when he’s finally got down on one knee and popped the question!

Far from home and followed by the paparazzi, her relationship is tested more than Jessika ever imagined – will she make it home for Christmas before it’s too late?

A glittering festive romance for fans of Sarah Morgan, Holly Martin and Lindsay Kelk. Perfect to curl up with this Christmas!

What I didn’t know when I started reading this, is that Abbey Clancy is a ‘celebrity’. But then I don’t read those articles or..

Bio:

Abigail Marie Clancy, (born 10 January 1986) known as Abbey Clancy, is an English lingerie and catwalk model and television personality. She is married to former professional footballer Peter Crouch, was the runner-up of Britain’s Next Top Model (cycle 2) in 2006 and won series 11 of Strictly Come Dancing in 2013.

Thus we can be sure that her tale about a rock star is based on real knowledge from those she knows and has written about. So the dilemma of our heroine can be said to be based on fact. And indeed we often read about how pop/rock stars spend long amounts of time away from their family and how this impacts on their relationships with all their drama, regrets, insecurities, romance, and the friendships within their world which is so different to any life they may have with their family. And it is this conflict between the lifestyle of the ‘star’ and the friends, family and romantic relationships that is brought out here. With gentle humour at times and empathetic writing.

My first novel by Abbey Clancy but I can see she has the style down pat and even though this story is about Xmas the issues raised are about relationships and thus it could be read at any time of the year.

When the President isn’t

American Royals Book Cover American Royals
Katharine McGee
YA, Romance, Royalty
Puffin

Romance, glamour, ambition and power . . . meet the Washingtons - the most scandalous royal family ever! HRH Princess Samantha has always been a royal rebel. She's the spare not the heir, so no one minds too much who she dates or how hard she parties. It helps that her sister, Princess Beatrice, is literally perfect. She's demure, sweet and beautiful, and she knows that the crown always comes first - no matter what her heart might really want. But they're not the only ones with their eye on the throne. Daphne Deighton might be 'newly noble' but she won Prince Jefferson's heart once, and she'll do anything to get back into the court's favour - and his bed. If only she knew that her competition was a common nobody - plain little Nina Gonzalez, the daughter of the king's secretary. Together these four young women must navigate the drama, gossip, scheming and sizzling romance of the most glorious court in the world. They'll either be crowned in glory - or end up as shockingly royal disasters.

Overall I liked this alternate history of America and thus the world.

My one issue was with Daphne’s age. She was still 17 at the time of writing.

Her scheming was that of a teenager true, but the concept of marriage at such a young age- well. My guess is that the ages of the main characters were to appeal to an YA audience.

It would have been nice to have had more history of America in the storyline. What had happened after the war with the British?

There were odd sentences here and there-eg about slavery & Native Americans, but they only left me wanting more detail.

I’m sure a YA audience will love this new series, after all, so many girls dream about being a: a. a princess and b. To be in charge- to rule.

Our furry friends – sometimes with feathers or scales though

Fun idea and I do like the initials – and then there is ASS – Avian S Security

Definitely a fun read this set of stories, with lots of shifter romances of species that really shouldn’t like each other. The Rabbit and the Bear for instance.

Miranda is just so over the top, but her feral rabbit, well don’t encounter them is all I can offer.

This is Eve at her best. But I found that in Books 4/5/6 The premise gets a bit thinner and the stories are less giggly.
