The original story "The Captive" led to a novel, and three additional volumes followed. With this collection you are finally holding all four Betania Breed single SciFi romance novels, complete and unabridged, in your hands – and mysterious background material is included. In over 800 pages, you will be up close and personal on an adventurous and dramatic voyage through the universe.

The Boxed Set includes the Betania Breed Series Volumes I-IV:

The Captive
Betania Breed Book One

I am one of the few people who hasn’t given up the fight against the Sethari yet. I would rather die than surrender to the aliens who have enslaved us humans for more than one hundred years. Then the unthinkable happens: I am awarded to the leader of the aliens, so I can bear him healthy, viable children. I am prepared for anything, except this one thing – that this merciless warrior, with his strange eyes and scaly skin, would awaken feelings in me...

The Prey
Betania Breed Book Two

Johar is the most merciless and successful bounty hunter there is. His reputation is legendary, for he has never let any prey slip through his fingers. His creator’s beautiful daughter hates Johar and lets him feel it every waking minute. But Johar knows something about her that nobody else knows. Not even she herself... The book takes place a few months after the events of book 1.

The Human
Betania Breed Book Three

Talon Delkhari was the mightiest warlord of his people, until he dared to contradict his king. Instead of granting him an honorable death in the fight against their enemies, the king made him his chamberlain instead. His newest conquest is from Earth. He won her in a poker game, and Talon is supposed to deliver her safely to his bed. An easy assignment for someone like Talon. That’s what heI thought, anyway, until this human woman awakens the predator lurking under his skin… The book takes place a few years after the events of book 2.

The Dragon
Betania Breed Book Four

The fourth volume takes place shortly after the events in book 3. Coran Burke is an elite undercover agent from Earth. The tough and emotionless fighter has never failed. His new mission leads him to Dassuria where he is pursuing a dangerous dragon lord. At the center of his investigation is a woman who has a lot to hide - but despite her entanglement with the dragon lord, Coran can’t get her out of his head...

I was given this book as an ARC.

But – Oh Dear!

I read up to Part 3: The Awakening in Hope, but really, this whole muscles and pheromones and falling in ‘love ‘ aka lust at first sight? Just too predictable.

I thought the writing style rather prosaic and not in any way different from 100s of other such alien abduction style books.

The heroine could have been acceptable but she was rather 2 dimensional and finding out after several ‘chapters’ that we were somewhere in Ad 3900 was just too late.

Not so godly as it would seem

Orphanage of the Gods Book Cover Orphanage of the Gods

In the glass city of Amareth, on a hill above a river, is an orphanage patrolled by soldiers with guns. Inside are the children left behind by the long-ago war in which humans all but wiped out their gods. Until they grow up, no one will know which are human, and which are not. Children who reveal hidden powers vanish from their beds. The Guardsmen discover every god, in the end. No one has ever escaped - until now. One day Hero, a seventeen-year-old half-god, breaks out of the orphanage and flees north with her brother Joshua. But the murderous Guard are on their tail, and they have something Hero wants desperately: her sister Kestrel, held captive in a towering stone prison in the northern sea. To survive and rescue Kestrel, Hero must outwit more than just the Guard. Lying in wait for them are a ragged band of gods-in-hiding, who promise help in exchange for eternal loyalty. Hero does not want to trust them - but as winter draws in and even Joshua begins to turn against her, her world starts to feel impossibly dangerous . . . ************ Praise for Helena Coggan's 'The Catalyst' 'This year's Divergent' - Sun 'A phenomenal achievement . . . assured, frightening, action-packed' - Observer 'A pulsing, labyrinthine, emotionally visceral plot' - Metro

I tried very hard to read this book as it seemed like a great concept and storyline. However, in my opinion, the actual writing style and complicated plot lines that confused me, made it a difficult read. I abandoned it about 50% of the way through as I felt it was not worth trying to complete.

A Hickory Lace Adventure: Book 1 of the Prosperine Trilogy

PJ McDermott

science fiction, adventure, religion, metaphysical, visionary

Patrick McDermott Publishing

306

For sixty years, the Alien Corps has searched for the Second Son of God.

When a native on the planet Prosperine is reported to be exorcising demons, curing blindness, and healing the sick, Hickory and her team are sent to investigate. If this “Teacher” proves to be the one in the prophecy, it will signal the beginning of the apocalypse.

But Hickory and her superiors aren’t the only ones interested in Prosperine. A sinister galactic force is planning to seize the planet’s reserves of crynidium, the key to faster than light travel. If they succeed, their next stop will be Earth and its colonies.

Hickory needs to stop the insurgents, discover what the Teacher is up to, and decide whether he is a fraud—or perhaps the very person the Alien Corps has been searching for.

Something new here in terms of theme – the mix of religion and sci-fi giving adventure a twist.

I thought it an interesting take on the ‘first contact’ theme and what you can and cannot do when you meet one of the many humanoid species out there in deep space.

So there is a new saint discovered in the 22nd century who has foretold another messiah with a new set of gospels demonstrating what s/he would be like and it is the mission of the Council to check all such reportings for veracity under the rules concerning first contact.

A reasonable story but didn’t inspire me to want to read more.

Preferably not.

The author attempts a snarky female heroine, but fails to pull it off convincingly.

The storyline is derivative of others – see angel blood – saviour of the universe and so on…

Interview with the Author

Q – So, what makes the Deadly Sins series special?

A – When I set out to write Angel Unborn, I wanted to write the kind of books I like to read. My favorites are usually paranormal romance novels with not only strong heroes but strong heroines who can stand on their own. I enjoy a great fantasy or science fiction novel as well. Basically, anything with a kick-butt attitude and a touch of something different that grabs my attention.

The Deadly Sins books are a great mix of these genres. You’ll find the series focuses on angels and demons but also features psychics, ghosts, the mythical gods, and other supernatural favorites. Either I have commitment issues, or I like to keep things interesting! I’d like to think it’s the latter.

Overall, the Deadly Sins series is designed to keep you turning the pages – and I’ve made sure there’s never a dull moment.

Q – What order should I read the books in?

A – I’ve written the series so you can read the books in any order (except for All Wicked’s Eve—it should be read after Demon Undamned). If you do want to read them in order, I’d suggest the following sequence:

– Angel Unborn
– Angel Redeemed (accompanying novelette to Angel Unborn)
– Angel Unleashed
– Hexed (novella that ties into Angel Unleashed)
– Demon Undamned
– All Wicked’s Eve

Q – So, why should readers give these books a try?

A – Because the Deadly Sins series is a fast, fun, humorous ride that takes no prisoners! Ultimately, readers who enjoy strong heroes, snarky heroines, and lightning-fast pacing with a plot that twists and turns all the way to the end will get a kick out of this series.
